10th December, 12 – 1.30pm. Focus: Adoption Culture Change Series (2 of 3). Focus: Session 2. We’ll look at learning gained from “theory of change” to explore importance of children’s relationships. This will involve us in looking at some of the barriers and facilitating factors to holding onto children’s important relationships. Knowledge from lived and practice experience will be explored. We’ll examine why cultural change toward more open adoptions is so important. IROs as champions for change. In collaboration with UEA and Adoption England. Venue: Join the meeting

15th January 2025, 12 – 1.30pm. Focus: Adoption Culture Change Series (3 of 3). Focus: Session 3. The importance of individualised planning is crucial. Various factors need to be considered to get the right plan for individual children. The aim is to make sure contact that is safe and meaningful. We’ll explore what this looks like in practice. In collaboration with UEA and Adoption England. Venue: Join the meeting

NIROMP Supporting Continuing Professional Development

You should always be looking for ways to improve your practice so you can offer the best possible support. Our Community of Practice sessions aim to enhance your knowledge, understanding and skills.

You must upload CPD to your Social Work England account. Ensure you record at least two pieces of CPD per registration year. Do not upload all your CPD records as one document. You must answer all the questions on the Social Work England CPD forms.

Attendance at a NIROMP Community of Practice session can be used to demonstrate your achievement of CPD Standards such as:

We’ve been pleased to host learning events and community of practice sessions since 2017. Pre-covid we held events in person and throughout covid we held them online. We’ve learnt from your feedback that lunchtime learning works best for you. Having dates in advance helps you fit sessions around your busy schedules!

4 June 2024, 12-1.30pm. Focus: Kinship Care.  Guest Speakers Cathy Ashley, Chief Executive – Family Rights Group in collaboration with Sharon McPherson Co-founder of Families In Harmony. Sharon campaigns for racial equity in policy and practice plus investment in race related kinship care research.

1 October 2024, 12-1.30pm. Focus: Kinship Care. Guest Speakers Cathy Ashley, Chief Executive – Family Rights Group in collaboration with Sharon McPherson Co-founder of Families In Harmony. 26th November, 12 – 1.30pm. Focus: Adoption Culture Change Series (1 of 3). Session 1. The importance of maintaining relationships and adoption, and outcomes of open adoptions. In collaboration with UEA and Adoption England.

3 December 2024, 12-1.30pm. Focus: Children in care / care leavers with a disability or long-term health condition. In collaboration with Coram Voice.
