NIROMP Webinar Series on Open Adoptions

Republished 07-12-24

NIROMP is proud to promote this focus on modernising adoption. This allows adopted people to stay connected to their birth family and people important to them.

On 26-11-24 we were delighted to host this webinar. It is the first in a series of three sessions. Our next session takes place online on 10-12-24.

These sessions are part of the Adoption England and University of East Anglia Adoption Culture Change series. This first session focuses on the importance of maintaining relationships and adoption, and outcomes of open adoptions.

Anyone who missed the session can view the recording here, but please do register for session 2 & 3 HERE

AFDiT stands for Anti-racist Framework for Decision-making in Transitioning children from minoritised racial and ethnic groups into transracial adoptive families (AFDiT).

The framework has been developed to help support children who are moving into transracial adoption. It gives social workers a framework to refer to. This helps them support adoptive parents in understanding the needs and identity of a child. The child may have a different heritage or ethnicity than their adoptive parents.
