Regional Network
The London region has a well-organized programme of regional events with clear lines of reporting to the elected Chair. Attendance at regional meetings is has been good but our most recent meeting had a poor turnout which we think reflects the number of changes taking place across London and IRO services. IRO Managers only usually attend and 2 IRO practitioners from the London IRO Practitioners Group always attend. IRO’s deputize when their manager is not able to attend.
Meetings are held 4 times a year and have allowed the region to maintain an eye to the impact of the changes to IRO services and to local government children’s services.

Regional Update
There have been some major changes in legislation and guidance this year. The region has discussed many of these, including the implications of the latest findings from research and best practice.
- IRO Bi London Conference 29th June 2015
- The following learning events have taken place in response to local priorities and needs: Feltham YOI Open morning for IRO’s 11th June 2015
- Planning our next conference. Theme: Using social work methodology in our IRO role. Date: June 2017
- Working with local young offenders units to ensure positive Looked After Reviews within their establishments.
- Developing links between neighbouring Boroughs to share good practice.
