Dr Carlene Firmin MBE, creator of the Contextual Safeguarding model, will reflect on the thinking which led to its development, and importantly, what’s been learnt so far to inform future professional practice.
This will be followed by a range of local experts who will share their experience of the application and the challenges of the model in practice. They include:
- Martin Watson, Safeguarding Training and Partnerships Manager, Avenue Centre for Education and the Alternative Learning and Progression Service
- Catherine Doyle – Single Point of Contact Team Manager, Luton Borough Council lead on exploitation and missing children and Elaine Hughes – Head of the LBC Social Work Academy
- Kimberley C. Lamb, Head of Bedfordshire’s Violence and Exploitation Reduction Unit, Bedfordshire Police
- Hayley Brown – CEO, Link to Change http://www.linktochange.org.uk
We suggest that all attendees watch Carlene’s TedX talk beforehand to inform their understanding – link below.
