Kinship has published findings from their annual survey looking at what life is like for kinship carers in England and Wales. Responses to an online survey of 1,651 kinship carers caring for 2,538 children show that: 62% of carers believed that their children had long-term physical and mental health needs; 36% of children in kinship care had special educational needs, three times the national average of 12%; 26% of carers reported experiencing child-on-carer violence over the past year; and 64% of carers reported that the Covid-19 restrictions had a negative impact on their children’s physical and mental wellbeing.
