Improvements will be made to special guardianship orders (SGOs) in the wake of concerns about their use, children’s minister Edward Timpson has said.
“It is now a decade since [SGOs] were introduced by the last Labour government, and it is time for us to have a close and proper look at the consequences of their introduction.
The National IRO Manager Partnership has submitted its response to the government review of SGOs which was launched in July and closed today.
Through this review of SGOs, the government hopes to make improvements to the decision-making process around SGOs, as well as subsequent support for guardians.
