NIROMP is delighted to offer up to 50 free invites to this key event for practising Independent Reviewing Officers (IROs). It is to be held on 17th October 2017 at Tooley Street, London.
This key event for IROs should provide an opportunity to network, to engage with key messages from research and to critically reflect on dominant discourses influencing IRO practice.
Due to the high level of interest in this event, a limited number of tickets are available for purchase by practicising social workers / managers.

Chris Bolton: https://whatsthepont.com/about/ . Chris will present some fascinating ideas about the role of narratives, bias and risk taking: ‘Working with narrative to better manage risk and see beyond inattentional blindness’.
Dr Jadwiga Leigh: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/socstudies/staff/staff-profiles/leigh Jadwiga will present her latest thought provoking work ‘Recalcitrance, compliance and the presentation of self: Exploring the concept of organisational misbehaviour in an English local authority child protection service’. Jo will help us to consider the impact of organisational directives and the kind of positions they encourage social workers to take up in practice.

Emphasis will be given to the Independent Reviewing Officer role in informing best practice.
We are hoping to film this event in order that similar events can be cascaded across the nine regions of England.
This is a free event exclusively for IROs subscribed to NIROMP (www.niromp.org). Admittance will be refused to any individual not meeting this criteria.
Lunch and refreshments cannot unfortunately be provided but refreshments will be available for purchase at the venue. A range of shops and cafes are within walking distance of the venue.
