Help us make the difference

You really do play such an important role in deciding what happens in our most vulnerable children’s futures – indeed, we just couldn’t do it without you.  So we know you will understand why we want to make sure we get the right people with the right skills, attributes and abilities to join our close-knit team.

Your excellent communication and analytical skills goes without saying, as chairing and facilitating complex multi-disciplinary conferences and offering a critical perspective and challenge isn’t for the feint hearted – but we know how determined and passionate you are about improving the outcomes for our children.

Listening is also a key element of our role and representing the views of children and young people will be integral to how we continue to deliver and develop our quality service, encouraging their participation in their care planning.  We are excellent at celebrating our Looked after Childrens achievements too and that makes us really proud.

You do not need to have direct management experience – with your significant social work experience, the ability to act independently arises from having the confidence and skills to make judgements about a child’s best interests and to have the means to mount an effective challenge and this is where your skills and experience will really come to the forefront.

To say our IRO team is completely dedicated to improving outcomes for children would be an understatement.  We are a great team who all rely and support each other and work closely together so our peer support is second to none.  As a team, we continue to strive together to improve standards for children on the verge of coming into care, are looked after or leaving care.  We also care deeply about our development, so we have good supervision arrangements in place as well as opportunities for professional development and continuous personal development. We have access to the Advanced Practitioner for IRO’s Programme which has been of benefit.

The key requirements document outlines the role in more detail, but we know you will want to find out a little bit more – so we really want you to encourage you to come and have a chat about the role we do, so please feel free to contact Denise Lynch on (01254) 585737 who will be delighted to hear from you.
