Unaccompanied and separated refugee and migrant children and young
people retain their universal rights and have the right to protection.
This new, free, six week online course is available to anyone with a responsibility for responding to the care and protection needs of unaccompanied and separated children and young people. The course is informed by the expertise and experience of young people,
professionals, volunteers, and academics and has been backed by 16 leading international humanitarian and children’s rights organisations.
This course is intended to support the care and protection of unaccompanied and separated refugee and migrant children who are moving across and between countries. It will support an understanding of the risks and vulnerabilities these children face. It is hoped it will inform the improvement of policy, practice and delivery of support services that uphold children’s rights and meet their best interests.
NIROMP are encouraging independent reviewing officers to sign up as part of their continuing professional development.
