An exciting opportunity has arisen as a full-time, permanent Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) in our Safeguarding, Review and Quality Assurance Service.

Requirements of you as an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO):
– A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)
– A valid Social Work England registration
– Have competent knowledge and experience of Quality Assurance work and the IRO handbook
We are looking for an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer or a highly skilled child and family social worker with management or supervisory experience.
As an IRO you are critical in carrying out the quality assurance function for children, including chairing statutory reviews, supporting children’s participation and making sure their views are heard and remain at the centre of all decision making.
A key focus of the role is driving forward permanency planning for children in care and ensuring that high quality care plans are in place that meet the child’s needs.
You will be expected to maintain oversight between reviews to ensure care plans are being realised in a timely way. You will be proactive in promoting children’s physical health, emotional well-being, education, and help them to successfully transition into adulthood. On behalf of our children, you will also be expected to hold the Council to account as corporate parent.

The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to evidence your intervention and oversight on the child’s file. The role also requires the skills, knowledge and confidence to be able to work independently and autonomously.
