Job Introduction

Independent Reviewing Officer / Child Protection Advisor

If you are a talented Children’s Services Manager, join our ‘Outstanding’ Children’s Social Care Team in the crucial role of Independent Reviewing Officer or Child Protection Advisor. You will discover a highly-supportive environment in one of the top performing authorities in the South; a service that has brought together a talented workforce and experienced Managers to create an enviably strong and effective department.

We expect you to be qualified, experienced and a creative Children’s Services Manager with the skills to Chair Child Protection Conferences and Statutory Review Meetings for Looked After Children.  You will provide a high-level of quality assurance in the formulation and implementation of outcome-focussed children’s plans.  You will be committed to promoting the participation of children, young people and their families in all aspects of the assessment, reviewing and planning process.

Because we know what it takes to do this job effectively, we have made significant investment in our Children’s Safeguarding Unit to ensure that you and your team can carry out a meaningful quality assurance role.

Motivated to improve outcomes for children

We need you to help us bring about change for children and families. So, we are looking for highly-motivated, qualified social work professionals who understand how to improve outcomes for children and have a proven track record in statutory children’s services.

You will need to have relevant experience as a Manager and be able to demonstrate strong management and leadership skills.

Your practice must be evidence-based and you should be up-to-date on current theories and research. You will receive individualised support through a range of training and development opportunities to enable you to succeed in this role and progress your career.

As a pioneer of multi-agency working, you’ll be working closely with a range of organisations.

We are making a difference

We won the Silver Award for Best Social Work Employer at the Social Worker of the year Awards 2017. We have created a centre of excellence alongside our local Universities, resulting in the East Sussex County Council being awarded Government “Teaching Partnership” status.
