The Immigration Bill, currently being considered by Parliament, contains measures to reform local authority support for certain groups of destitute families and care leavers. IROs need to be aware of the implications of the Bill as support for care leavers who have no status will be very limited.

IROs and children in care teams with responsibilities for supporting Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children and other separated migrant children, need to be aware of the changes and the importance of identifying children who have outstanding immigration matters so these can be addressed before the child turns 18.

The NRPF Network has created factsheets setting out the provisions for families and care leavers, which contain links to Home Office guidance. Download them below and help spread the word about these informative and important factsheets.
