Now is a very exciting time to join Children’s Services in Salford. We want children growing up in Salford to see and say that their city, community, and services are great and this has been recognised in our recent Ofsted report which rates our overall services as ‘good’
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a full time, permanent post (36 hours) as a Practice Manager within the Independent Reviewing Officer and Quality Assurance Service within Salford’s Safeguarding Children and Quality Assurance Unit, based at Sutherland House, Swinton.
Initially the post holder will carry a reduced IRO caseload and will provide supervision to a number of Independent Reviewing Officers, having a role within the Quality assurance work within the Safeguarding Unit. It is planned that in the medium term this post will be fully managerial with no caseload responsibility.
Why work for Salford Children Services?
• Listen to what children and young people want and work hard to make sure that the services they provide help keep them safe and to achieve their wishes (Ofsted 2015).
• The workforce is stable and children and young people in Salford have sustained and meaningful relationships with consistent workers.
• Staff are supported through a well-targeted and effectively delivered training programme.
• Strong leadership and management.
The work does not stop here. We are already in the process of working through and implementing the findings and recommendations of the inspectors. We may be ‘good’ but we will always have things to improve and develop further to achieve excellence!
There will be opportunities to deliver training programmes and contribute to the continuing practice development of social workers.
Prospective candidates will be social work qualification and will demonstrate substantial experience in work with children and families, including looked after children, care proceedings and child protection, as a practitioner and in some kind of supervisory capacity.
