News: Care leaver internship scheme – applications open 29th August

Care experienced? Interested in gaining paid work experience? Interested in learning more about media and campaigns, strategic communications, strategic engagement and internal communications? Does the idea of delivering cutting edge work for UK Government excite you?

Here’s early news of a great scheme that could be just what you’re looking for! You could find yourself working on national media campaigns; creating innovative content for social media; working in a busy media office; a major staff engagement programme or with Ministers and senior officials!

What to expect

A 6-12 week paid internship within either a government department or public body. You will undergo an intensive programme of communications activities, including induction, communications training sessions, a careers workshop and various networking events.

Salary: £350 per week

Location: London, with some placement opportunities available in Belfast, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool and Nottingham

Eligibility

You must be from one of the following backgrounds:
● Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic
● Socially or economically disadvantaged
● Consider yourself to have a disability
● Care leaver

You must meet the nationality requirement and the right to work in the UK requirement: Open to UK, Commonwealth and European Economic Area (EEA) and certain non-EEA nationals. In addition, you must have the right to work in the United Kingdom, and you must satisfy the diversity requirement.

You must be in your final 2 years at university, a recent graduate or have completed a degree equivalent qualification in a communications related subject (NVQ level 6)
